Welcome to preschool. I am so excited to begin a new year and I am ready for us to explore learning together. This year we will work on pre-academic and social skills that will revolve around themes. We will also be using a word wall to help enhance the learning process. The children will be continuously growing and creating bonds with their teachers and peers during our daily preschool activities that consist of structured play, circle time, centers, gross motor, art, and snack. We will be busy and we will expect your involvement to make the experience come full circle.
This website will be your link to the classroom. Themes for the school year will be posted, as well as a weekly schedule of the activities the students will be involved in. A newsletter will also be sent home on a weekly basis, so keep an eye out for that.
I look forward to working with your child this year. I am excited to get started and I welcome any input and questions. Email is a great way to have continuous open communication, so please feel free to contact me any time, arbishop@vbschools.com

Hello, my name is Angela Bishop and I was born in Colombia. I grew up in Texas where I graduated from the University of Houston with a psychology degree. There I met my husband who is a Navy Helicopter pilot and we have moved around a lot. Another important member of my family is my dog, an American Bulldog named Mazzy. She requires lots of exercise and has me going on a regular basis. I enjoy running and hiking with her, but my favorite hobby is still snowboarding. I love hanging out with my family and spending lots of time at the movies and reading a fun book.
In my previous work experience I have worked as a behavioral therapist working with children with autism. I have also worked as a counselor with middle and high school students and as a resource teacher to first, second, and third grade students. Last year, I received my Masters in Special Education from Regent University. This is my third year teaching at Landstown Elementary and this is my second year teaching Early Childhood and I absolutely love it.
The other teacher in the classroom is our wonderful assistant Renee Lesher. She is great and is extremely dedicated. This is her ninth year in preschool and she continues to love it. Mrs. Lesher is married and has two kitties she adores. She likes to bike ride and enjoys spending quality time with her family.

School begins at 11:20 A.M. and ends at 2:20 P.M. If you are going to be bringing your child to school by means of personal automobile, be aware of these times. Please have your child at the Preschool bus drop off point by no later than 11:10 and plan to pick your child up promptly at 2:20.
-If your child arrives late for school, you must go to the front office and sign your child in. You must have a visitors pass in order to come down the hall.
A newsletter will be sent home once a week to let you know of upcoming events and activities. In addition to a full preschool day, your child will also receives physical and occupational therapy as a group once a week. Students needing additional therapy may get individual help. Speech services will be received in small group instruction to students who have speech as a service in their IEP’s. Once settled in we will also participate in weekly library trips and lessons.
Each Friday is popcorn day!! ** It is important that parents alert me of any allergies or special condition that your child may have prior to school starting.
Each day:
-Please send your child to school each day with a backpack for teachers to send home important papers and art work.
-Student must bring a 1” three ring binder to school as a communication notebook; here I will insert a daily evaluation sheet. This will allow you to see what activities your child participated in and what areas may be of concern. Please feel free to use this sheet to convey to me any questions or concerns that you may have. I will do my best to answer your questions in a timely manner. You may also feel free to contact me at school by telephone at 430-2733, EXT 53129.
-We will have snack late in the day, make sure your child does eat a good breakfast before coming to school.
It is very important to me that your child come to school on a regular basis. The more your child is present in my classroom, the more he or she will learn. That said, I would also ask you that your child not come to school if they are not feeling well. This is for the benefit of not only your child, but classmates and teachers alike.
Items that your child will need to bring to school to get started:
· 1” plastic 3 ring binder/notebook (empty)
· 2 boxes of wipes
· 1 box of tissues
· Bottle of antibacterial soap
· 1 box of Clorox wipes (lemon or regular)
· 2 boxes of Ziploc bags (one small and one large)
· 1 box or bag of snack (what your child enjoys: chips, pretzels, cereals, snack bars, or cookies)
· Plastic container of juice
· Box of small Dixie cups
· Package of paper plates (small or large)
· Box of microwave popcorn
· Full change of clothes to be used in case of emergency (extra underwear) – please make sure to send the correct weight of clothes for the current weather. We will change out light weight clothes as the weather changes, normally in November. (Send to school in a zip lock bag marked with child’s name)
· If your child wears pull-ups, etc. please send in a full bag or enough to last two weeks. I will make notify you via evaluation sheet when we are running short. (Send to school in a zip lock bag marked with child’s name)
At various times throughout the year it will be necessary for me to make snack item or classroom supply requests when we run low on supplies that were initially sent in at the start of school. These requests will come home to you on my weekly newsletter and we thank you in advance for the classroom contributions.
