Time to Get Started!
updated August 28, 2008
I can’t wait to get started on Tuesday. Ms. Wilson and I have an exciting school year planned ahead. I would like to take a moment and express my expectations for the upcoming school year. I plan to take each and every child in my class to their highest potential. I will achieve this goal by exposing them to as much as possible in a controlled environment. I will let you know that I don’t often use time-out in my classroom. Instead, I give the children acceptable choices and consequences. For example, if a child is throwing blocks I will explain that you get two chances if you still choose to throw the blocks then they belong to me. Then, I will wait and say “that is 1 no throwing blocks”, “that’s 2, remember the next time the blocks are mine” and “3 the blocks are mine we can try playing with them again tomorrow.” I find that this method works best for the children and me. As I stated before I plan on exposing the children to as much as possible. We will work on writing our name, identifying numbers, counting items, identifying letters, playing simple board games and working with others in a small group. I know this sounds like a lot but it can be done. If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to call me anytime. If I miss your call I will do my best to return your call in the same day.
