In math we will be working on basic math skills, this includes, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and many more math concepts. The students will be working with a wide range of math resources to help them achieve these basic skills. In reading we will be working on developing our reading skills and working towards better comprehension. The students will be working with the Wilson Reading program as well as reading books as a class and choice books individually. In language class we will be working on developing our writing and grammatical skills. The students will become writers in this class. They will be looking at different styles of writing and creating their own writing in each style. Within all of these three classes the students will use the skills they learn and apply them to real world situations. Study skills will be a time for the students to work on homework from other classes, and learn skills that will help them be more successful in middle school. For each of these classes, parents can find the homework assignments and any up and coming test on this site.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to e-mail me at khruby@moberly.k12.mo.us . I hope that each student comes into class every day with a positive attitude and ready to do their best! This will make for a great school year!

Science Olympiad-Mrs. Paul
Dear Parents and Students: Welcome to Science Olympiad!!!!! This class is designed to allow students the opportunity to learn science topics beyond the science curriculum including forestry, ornithology, technological writing, and forensics. Science Olympiad affords students opportunity to learn science topics with a more defined nature. Students are encouraged to work like scientists through project based learning, cooperative learning, and in authentic learning situations. Due to the nature of instruction, it is very important that students follow directions and utilize safe laboratory practices. I also coach the Science Olympiad team at the Middle School. This team has been very successful and has won several honors at the state level of competition. This past year it was a privilege to watch former team members recognized as the valedictorian and salutatorian of the 2011 Moberly Senior High graduating class. The format of Science Olympiad will change this year to a quarter class instead of a semester class. This will affect the amount of material covered as well as the topic choice, but I am confident that we will have another wonderful year and that your student will learn a great appreciation for the field of science. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (ppaul@moberly.k12.mo.us). Sincerely, Mrs. Paul
