Creative Writing I
Creative Writing is an English Elective course designed to stretch the imagination and tap into creative writing strengths.  We will employ a variety of writing and critiquing situations.  Students should be prepared to meet deadlines and to keep a portfolio of written work.

English 11
A chronological study of American literature and the analysis of that literature will be emphasized in this course.  The course also includes the study of composition: the prepared (process writing) of a research paper, personal essay, and literary analysis essay.  Both formal and informal speaking experiences will be included.

High School Reading Prep
Welcome to Language!, a literacy based program for learners needing intervention in literacy curriculum. Language! instructional periods will include phonemic awareness, word recognition and vocabulary building, grammar usage, comprehension (both listening and reading), and written expression. A variety of genre will be used to accelerate student learning. Students read both non-fiction and fiction articles during the instructional setting.

Skill based instructional blocks are assessed on a regular basis and also MAP assessment scores are reflected. Increasing fluency rates and decoding skills is a goal as students increase skills that lead to improved success across the curriculum and standardized assessments.
