Computer Science I is an introductory Computer Science course. We start out the year learning the very basics of how computers work and what a computer is. Then, we begin writing simple programs that teach you the fundamentals of problem solving. CS1 was designed to allow the student just getting started with computers to cover the first year of Computer Science in two years if needed. As the year progresses, we cover more advanced concepts in hopes that each student will be prepared and confident enough to take CS AP A.
Prerequisite: Concurrent Geometry K or Algebra II
This course will satisfy the technology applications credit requirement for graduation.
This is a 1 credit course.

Science AP A starts out with the basics as we do in CS1 and steadily work our way into larger programs. CS AP A is a first year course intended for the student that already has basic computer skills to complete the first year of Computer Science in one year. In CS AP A, games are used to teach many concepts. Graphical assignments and game programs are a big part of the course. CS AP A is an AP class; thus, we will prepare for the AP exam throughout the year.
Prerequisite: Geometry K, CS1K
This course will satisfy the technology applications credit requirement for graduation and will satisfy a Math credit under the new state 4X4 Math/Science plan. This is a 1 credit course. The AP credit for this course is 3 hours.

In Computer Science AP AB, we begin the year with a review of CS AP A by writing TIC TAC TOE and PONG. CS AP AB will covers several new topics, including Stacks, Queues, Linked Lists, and Trees. Throughout the year, we write several game programs that emphasize and expand the basic topics covered in class. CS AP AB is also an AP course and we prep for the AP exam all year long.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of CS AP-A
This course will satisfy the technology applications credit requirement for graduation and will satisfy a Math credit under the new state 4X4 Math/Science plan. This is a 1 credit course. The AP credit for this course is 6 hours.

In Computer Science III/IV, we write lots of game programs, work with robotics, and prepare for contests. When you get to CS III/IV, you have all of the tools you need to write just about any program you could imagine. In the first semester, we write some very basic games and work up to more complicated games like SPACE INVADERS and PAC MAN. We also spend time preparing for the various contests in which we compete and working with and programming robotics.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of CS AP-AB

The Computer Science team travels all around the state to compete in contests. The contests allow you to take the knowledge & skills you learn in class and test them against other students from other schools. Many students qualify for scholarships because they compete as members of the CS team.
