Previous Course 2008-09
Summer is near its end and it is time to start thinking about school and learning. Below are two summer math packets, one is for the new 8th graders and the other is for the new 9th graders.

For the 9th graders: The high school did not assign this to you. I am providing it to you so you may review many of the topics we learned last year. Take a look and see what you remember.

get ready for geometry.pdf

For the 8th graders: This packet contains 4 pages that have example problems then 3 pages of practice problems. Complete 10 problems from each page and get a head start on your review homework.

Try the activity we did in class at home. Use anything as a unit of measure, cereal, skittles, m & m's . . .

Place them around the circumference of a circle and count how many go around.

Then, using the same unit of measure, place them across the diameter and count.

Take the number of things around the circumference and divide it by the number of things in the denominator.

Do this a few times with circles of different sizes.

What do you get?

Hmmmmm.
