I have been sending leveled readers home daily with book log sheets. There are usually 2 books that your child can read without help. Make sure that their titles are added to the sheet and returned to school for credit. Other books read at home can be included on this sheet, or on the previous book log sent home. The idea is to get credit for the reading with book titles.
Meeting the standard means that the student reads 4 books daily. In our classroom this usually means: one book read by the teacher, one book read during guided reading group, and two books read by the student during Reader's Workshop, or at home as homework.
If your child does not complete book logs either in class or at home, this will be reflected in their reading performance grade.
