*Period 1: 7th Grade Language Arts*
This course will explore many different aspects of language arts including: literature, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, public speaking, and listening comprehension.
Organization and homework completion will be key to success in this class. Period 1 Main Class Page
*Period 2: CP British Literature*
This course will explore British literature from the 8th century to the present day. Other elements such as grammar, vocabulary, and writing will be addressed to prepare students to take the HSPA in March of their junior year.

*Period 3: CP Freshmen English*
This is a freshmen English course following a thematic curriculum that covers a variety of genres and works of literature. Various forms of writing will also be introduced, and a heavy focus will be placed on thinking creatively.

*Period 4: English 1 Replacement*
This course replaces freshman year English. The content is modified to meet the needs of more specialized learners and attempts to bridge gaps in learning while exposing students to all aspects of English.
Many of the books and short stories that are read as a part of the college prep curriculum will be included, though the focus of this course will be primarily skill-based. We will address how the course relates to real life situations, standardized testing, and future academic work. *Period 8: CP World Literature*
This is a senior year course that will study literature from around the world, Britain and America excluded. The time period studied will run from the earliest pieces of recorded writing to modern literature. The college essay and research papers will also be addressed.

On Day 1: Read "Short Story Activity" and complete the five study questions that go along with it. Email your answers to me.
On Day 2: Complete the "Parts of Speech Activity" and email it to me. On Day 3: Complete "Outlining Activity" and email it to me. On Day 4: Complete the "Homonyms Activity" and email it to me. On Day 5: Complete the "Writing Activity" and email it to me. On Day 6: Go back to "Short Story Activity" and complete the vocabulary that goes along with it. Email your answers to me. On Day 7: Complete "Evaluating Activity" and email me your self-score and the one paragraph response. |
