Welcome to Whitewater High School and the GOW Lab! This site will provide updated information for Examining the Teaching Profession and Study Skills classes. Coach Carpenter has ETP for 1st and 2nd periods and GOW lab for 3rd, 4th and 5th. Mrs. Jackson facilitates the GOW lab during 1st and 2nd periods.

This is the tier one class to the teaching pathway courses offered by Whitewater High School Career/Tech Department. This class prepares candidates for future positions in the field of education. Candidates study and practice the use of current technologies, effective teaching and learning strategies, the creation of an effective learning environment, the creation of instructional opportunities for diverse learners and students with special needs, and plan instruction based on knowledge of subject matter, students, and community and curriculum performance standards. Candidates will be prepared to practice their skills and knowledge at a variety of elementary and secondary sites.

Room 922: GOW LAB .

Course Description: The course is designed to help students improve their skill necessary to be successful academically. It is a practice-driven course-study skills will be taught through practice and repetition. Students will develop skills in the areas of self-management, organization, planning & completing assignments, utilizing textbooks, listening, note-taking, test-taking and self-advocacy, which will help students to perform better on classroom tests as well as standardized tests such as the EOCT and GHSGT.

***Study Skills course does not meet GHSGT objectives; however, it does concentrate on strategies that can be used during the tests. ***
