| Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! |
Parents are very important members of the Condit family. As such, we encourage you to participate fully in helping make your child's school experience rich and meaningful.
The staff and I want each of you to feel that you are a welcome part of the school and that Condit is your school. |

Dates to remember:
May 16 TAKS Math Retest (Fifth Grade only)
May 22 Field Day
May 25 Memorial Day
It is almost that time of year, when we dust off the Beach Boys CDs, stock up on sunscreen, and head for the water. It’s really incredible how fast this year has gone by. What an exciting year we have had. How often do you start your school year with a hurricane? It’s hard to believe that it was just this past September. I think it reflects on how well we work together at Condit. We were able to have a disaster like Ike and still complete all the things we had planned for the year. I owe every volunteer a big thank you!
Summer is a time when we focus on keeping our kids physically active, which is a good thing, but don’t forget their minds. They should still read every day. I know the Bellaire Public Library has a summer reading program. Summer is a great time to work on math facts. Not knowing their facts is the number one reason students struggle in math. Flash cards can be made or bought and used wherever you happen to be: driving in a car, at the airport, or lying on a beach.
It has been a great year. All of the test scores we have received have been great. Our Odyssey and Name that Book teams were very successful. Our students have shown their social conscience, with their participation in Heavenly Hats, St. Jude Math-a-thon, and Diapers for Casa de Esperanza, and most recently, our school was named the top recycler in our district. (Over 29 tons of paper) Most importantly, we did all of this and still managed to have some fun along the way.
In closing, I want to thank everyone who has helped make this year special: our outstanding staff, our wonderful parents, and our dedicated students. I appreciate the effort. A special thanks to the parents who are leaving our school. I know you have worked hard to make Condit the best. We will miss you.
Have a wonderful summer!
