Hello, my name is Tenia Boone and I currently teach 3rd grade at Argyle Elementary School.

Fluency Practice
We are currently working on reading at level N. Your child needs to continue to practice to read to you every night.
"Fluency is the ability to read a text accurately and quickly. When fluent readers read silently, they recognize words automatically. They group words quickly to help them gain meaning from what they read. Fluent readers read aloud effortlessly and with expression. Their reading sounds natural, as if they were speaking." Put Reading First, p. 22

It is imperative for the students to know the multiplications facts. As the year goes on, there will be multiplication tests to show how well you know your facts.
Each Friday the students will take a different timed test over their multiplication facts. Missing four or less will advance them in the race for the trophy.
At the end of each nine week grading period, your child will take a timed test consisting of 100 facts. They will have 5 minutes to complete the test.
May 11, 2009 will be the test for the trophy.
