English 12 emphasis will be placed on the skills of (a.) using the writing process in technical, workplace, and analytical writing; (b.) using correct mechanics, usage, sentence style, and structure in composition; (c.) using effective communication in groupwork, listening, and communication opportunities; (d.) using effective vocabulary in non-fiction, technical reading and writing, and literature; and (e.) preparing for the world of work through job applications and strong interview techniques.

This two year advanced course will prepare students for thoughtful and literate lives in a rapidly changing world. Students will develop their writing, critical thinking, and oral presentation skills. They will read a selection of American and world literature, experiencing a variety of genres, cultures, and literary styles. Class discussions will explore human themes and issues and allow students ample opportunity to connect the great themes of world literature to their own lives and experiences.
