"At the end of all exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time."
--TS Eliot

Welcome, Human Geo Scholars! As TS Eliot hinted, exploration involves as much about finding new places as it does about finding new pieces of yourself.

AP Human Geography is an intense, fascinating glimpse into the layers of our broadly diverse, intricate humanity. As we experienced on our first day with the OZZUBULLA CODE, this course will, hopefully, help you unlock some of the truths about the world that seem so complicated, but are quite tangible.

Ever wonder why the Israelis and the Palestinians have had hundreds of years of conflict? Why life seems to speed up? Which religions are the fastest growing? What does "Disneyification" mean (and does Disney really own a neighborhood where everyone must smile 24-7)?

We will answer these questions--and MANY more. As such, I especially welcome your enthusiasm and your curiosity. Together, we will ask questions and find new answers. Though somewhat related to the Geography classes your parents took, AP Human Geography approaches understanding the world through a slightly different set of "sunglasses."

While AP Geo will help you name most of the countries on the map, find most of the mountain ranges, and rattle off different regions' cash crops, you will learn more this year about human issues--like religion, language, political structures, city designs, farming patterns, and global poverty and wealth.
