Dear Parent or Guardian,
We welcome your child to the 2009-2010 school year at Lancaster High School. In order to assure that your students have a successful school year in mathematics the following information is essential to read and know. We need your help in the following areas:
1. All math students are required to maintain a notebook that contains a table of contents with dates, notes and assignments. We are asking you to check your child’s notebook daily for notes and completed assignments. You can also log onto the Algebra 2 website here at classjump to see what your child is learning.
2. The second area we need your help in is ensuring your child learns the answers to some basic but important math questions. These questions and answers can be found in your child’s notebooks. We are asking you to review these important questions with your child and ensure they learn the answers. Many of these questions will be on the semester exam and knowing these answers will be essential to your child’s success.
3. Thirdly, students who do not know their times table are at a great disadvantage. The semester exam will have a timed multiplication section. Students will be given three minutes to complete their times table. A sample of the times table can be found in your child’s notebook. We are asking you to work with your child and ensure they learn their multiplication facts.

4. Lastly, students will be required to bring their binder with paper and a pencil every day. All students are expected to update their table of contents, keep their daily work in the correct place, and participate in class activities and assignments. I want to encourage you to keep track of your child’s progress and work by viewing the table of contents and assignments within the binder throughout this school year. Communication is very important, so feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding your child’s work.
Thank you for your support and cooperation. If you have any questions, please call me at Lancaster High School. (972) 218-1800 or email me at paulruizdevelasco@lancasterisd.org
