1st and 6th Period - AP World History
This is a course designed to project a global perspective, which means that we will be discussing global processes and focusing on the big picture. We will look at the major political and economic developments in Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. We will examine the social and cultural values that shaped these societies with the intention of developing greater understanding and appreciation for the differences and similarities that inform all human societies. We will be dealing with three main approaches in our investigation of world history: the first involves asking about the role of culture in individual and social behavior; the second approach is a comparative one where we will compare societies in different regions using the same specific categories of analysis to discover patterns of similarities and to account for differences; and the third is to pursue the question of change over time - how things change and what remains the same.

2nd and 3rd Period - United States History
This class covers the period of post-Civil War to the modern day United States. This class will be designed to help transition students into an Honors or AP class for 11th grade (Government - HSA course). I believe that every student is capable of this transition with the appropriate expectations and environment. These skills will include research, note-taking, organization, writing for analysis, clarity, and purpose, and learning an overall work ethic that will allow them to be successful students at CHS!

4th and 7th Periods - Honors World History
This class covers world history from the Renaissance to modern day. Students will be learning a variety of skills from this class that will help prepare them for Honors or AP United States History in 10th grade. These skills will include research, note-taking, organization, writing for analysis, clarity, and purpose, and learning an overall work ethic that will allow them to be successful students at CHS!
