Student Standards and Expectation Plan

Middle school students will be working on a Participation Point grade which will be tallied at the end of each trimester. Students will give their points to me at the end of each class. Their points will be averaged according to the number of days they are in art class. Each student will earn a participation grade per trimester. If your child is absent they will not loose points or gain points that day. Every student will evaluate themselves at the end of each class and give their points based on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest.

Ways to earn 10 Participation Points:
Follow classroom rules (posted above blackboard).
Label name, date and grade on all work.
Turn Assignments in on time.
If a student is absent they will have to make up the assignment. It is the student’s responsibility to find out what they missed. Since I’m only here Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I will allow students five days to turn in their missed work.
Effort, Attitude and Cooperation
Problem Solving and Creative Thinking
Clean up
Proper use of Materials and Equipment
Travel to and from Art
Supplies, sketchbooks, projects returned to their proper place. Communication; the ability to react and respond both verbally and in writing their feelings and opinions about their work and the work of others.

Art Assignments will be critiqued by the students and teacher, then graded according to the rubric. Each assignment varies in points and will be based off 100%.

Supplemental materials and information will be provided through the use of videos, slides, prints, internet, DVD’s and Scholastic Arts Magazines.

I look forward to growing and learning with our students though the school year, building on lessons from the past and discovering new. If at anytime you should have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

God Bless and be with you always,

Mrs. Karolyne Myers
