Course Objectives / Outcomes

English 9 has adopted the Career Choices curriculum. In Essential English, we will be completing a modified version of this curriculum. This is an interdisciplinary curriculum that helps students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to successfully: examine their own lives, explore and evaluate a wide range of education and career options, and make reasoned and researched goals for their future.
The Freshman Career Seminar course facilitates the in-depth exploration of three fundamental questions: Who am I? What do I want? How do I get it?
Additionally, the ninth grade English course focuses on the study of reading and literature, writing and language, speaking, listening, and viewing. Each student also completes frequent on-demand writing and prepared writing. Literary concepts are taught through the study of short stories, mythology, plays, and novels. Speaking and listening skills are practiced throughout the year.
