4-Blue Class News
Welcome to 4Blue! Here's what's on tap in class.

Writing: In 4th Grade we use cursive writing in everything, except math. So get ready to learn, and improve on your own person writing style.

Religion: We have begun to study more deeply the 4th Commandment in chapter 15. As we remember to honor our father and mother, we will also learn that we should love and respect others and how we should live out the 4th Commandment.

Math:  Chapter 13: Decimals. We will be studying tenths, and hundredths, decimals greater than 1, decimal place value, and comparing, ordering, and rounding decimals.  We will be adding/subtracting decimals and dividing money.   Don't forget about those multiplication facts. We will  continue with periodic multiplication mad minutes and mad 2 1/2 minutes for scoops of ice cream. Finally, don't forget about Extra Math practice.

Spelling: Students will be working with Personalized Spelling Lists (PSL) which consist of 6 vocabulary words and 14 spelling words to improve their word base, writing, and reading comprehension.

Reading: The stories we will read in Unit 3 are as follows: The Hatmaker's Sign, Pat Cummings: My Story, Grass Sandals: The Travels of Basho, A Place Called Freedom, and a Times for Kids Special Report, Twisted Trails. The skills that will be studied are judgments/decision, fact/opinion, author's purpose/point of view, and summarization. Study skills are context clues, suffixes, reading signs, diagrams, maps, and graphs.

Grammar: Unit 3 is all about verbs.

Science: Great job on all aspects of plants/parts & adaptations. We will now move onto Unit C, Earth's structures, which include earthquakes, and volcanoes, rocks, and minerals, and fossils. We will be building and erupting our created volcanoes. So get ready for some explosive fun!

* Urgent!  4Blue is on their very last box of tissues. This could be serious as allergy season is quickly approaching and runny noses are part of it all. So please help us out and send in tissues, if you can. Thanks.
Keep sending in those Box Tops. It's a great way to raise money for our school.

We have peanut allergies in our class. Please stick to the list of allowable foods when planning a class celebration. The list is: animal crackers, graham crackers, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, goldfish, crackers, plain popcorn, and cheese/crackers.

Also, 4th grade has a working snack. Please send in a healthy "working" snack each day. No sharing of snacks is allowed.

Finally, we are always in need of tissues, wipes, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. Anyone who brings them in will receive Lucky Bucs! Help keep 4Blue healthly and clean.
