• Students will gain an appreciation for how our history has shaped our culture and continues to impact our lives today.

• We will begin our studies with the Ice Ages and continue studying various empires and cultures throughout history.

• Students will be using a variety of texts, viewing video documentaries, and completing research using the resources and technology available.

• Students will be working in cooperative groups, pairs, and individually.

• Time will be given in class for a variety of projects and assignments. There will be assignments that require students to work outside of the school day as well.

This course is a six week wheel course where we will be exploring various ways to minimize work loads at home by time managing and organizing our work at school.

We will focus on developing students’ organizational skills, independence, and their ability to connect their experiences to those of individuals who preceded them.

Two times per month, the students are to complete a current events assignment. (Details will be forthcoming.)

Map skills and group work will be focused on.

A variety of instructional strategies will be used including direct instruction, cooperative learning, research, presentations, and the use of various technologies.
