Modern World History 17 (1.0 credit)
Modern World History is a full year required class worth one credit. The course begins with an in depth study of the Renaissance (around 1500), and continues to the modern age.

Events such as the Renaissance, the Reformation, the French Revolution, the Age of Imperialism, the Industrial Revolution, The Great War, Paris Peace Conference, World War II, and the Cold War will be studied throughout the year.

Modern World History 19 (1.0 credit)
Modern World History 19 is a full year required Honors level course worth one credit. The course begins with an in depth study of the most important people, events, ideas, and movements that have contributed to the rise of democratic ideas and will continue through the Renaissance to the modern age. Events such as the Renaissance, the Reformation, the French Revolution, the Age of Imperialism, the Industrial Revolution, The Great War, Paris Peace Conference, World War II, and the Cold War will be studied in depth.

Issues such as human rights, revolution, war, genocide, and international terrorism will be studied on a consistent basis and by the end of this course all students should be able to appropriately understand how to analyze the major events of the past, and relate them to the modern world.

U.S. Foreign Policy (.5 Credits)
U.S. Foreign Policy is a half year elective worth .5 credits. The course is designed to familiarize students with who is responsible for carrying out the foreign policy of the United States, who influences the foreign policy decisions, and what international issues are most relevent to the security interests of the United States.

As part of this course students will write a 5-7 page term paper on a major U.S. foreign policy decision of their choice. Students will take part in a full day symposium on international terrorism or any other hot button issue that is currently in the news. Students will deliver speeches on NGO's, national security threats, and take part in debates on the Cold War, Vietnam, nuclear proliferation, and the role of the United Nations.
