Welcome
Welcome to the 2009-'10 school year.

I hope your summer break was enjoyable. It is hard to believe, but here we are at the beginning of a new academic year.

Every school year is important. However, this one in particular is especially important. This is the year where our focus is on preparing our students for high school. This is the year when we also call our 8th graders to leadership. Much will be asked of our young men and women, but we know they are up to the task.

Student expectations will be explained in more detail in the Parent Student Handbook, but I do want to call special attention to homework. It is absolutely imperative that students complete all homework as assigned. Homework must be turned in on time. Please note that homework must be in the possession of the student when the bell rings at 8:00 a.m. I would also like to remind all students that no assignment is optional.

I am available for conferences most days, please contact me in advance for an appointment. You may reach me by e-mail at mruiz@csdo.org or by phone at extension 14. Notes work well, too.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Together, I am confident, that we will accomplish many great things. I conclude with our class motto: "This is what Yahweh asks of you, only this: to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God.

Sincerely,

Mr. Ruiz
