AP Language and Composition
“An AP course in English Language and Composition engages students in becoming skilled readers of prose written in a variety of periods, disciplines, and rhetorical contexts and in becoming skilled writers who compose for a variety of purposes. Both their writing and their reading should make students aware of the interactions among a writer’s purposes, audience expectations, and subjects as well as the way generic conventions and the resources of language contribute to effectiveness in writing. The AP Language and Composition course…enables students to read complex texts with understanding and to write prose of sufficient richness and complexity to communicate effectively with mature readers” (The College Board 2006.)
The calendar below is subject to change based on instructor discretion. Please note that the contents for each day cover the material that will be discussed/reviewed on that particular class period. In other words, if Tuesday lists chapters 1-3, reading of these chapters will need to be completed prior to that class period.
International Film Studies
Introduction to Film Studies will develop student abilities to view films critically and to deepen their understanding of the film experience through visual discernment, analytic writing, and speaking/dramatized experiences. The course also includes critical analysis skills, extensive film terminology, the study of genre and style, historical context, and the evolution of film itself, including documentaries and foreign films.
AP Language and Composition Summer Assignment
