Earth Space.wmv
| Earth and Space: a Black Light Spectacular! (16.47 MB) Twenty second grade art classes drew and painted works of art based on their study of three of Earth's Biomes and Space. Some classes worked on a Desert Biome(the Sahara or USA/Mexico deserts), some on the Rainforest Biome(Central and South America Rainforests), others worked on the Ocean Biome(the top two layers of the ocean--Sunlit & Twilight), and other 2nd grade classes worked on Space. Each biome features many of the plants and animals that live in that region. This project was integrated and incorporated into the regular curriculum/courses of study by many classroom and special area teachers from both AES and APS (1st-4th grades). Over 2,300 guests toured the 10 week exhibit to see artwork created by students which reflected their study of Art through the Ages. Parent tour guides led visitors through the Prehistoric Period, Ancient Egyptian Period, Byzantine Period, Medieval Period, Renaissance Period, Early American Period, and Modern Art Period. Outside the tunnel, students enjoyed using chalk to draw on the "Create Your Own Art" wall. Over 500 hours given by volunteers, our students, faculty, community support,and the Fine Arts Grant Award from the National Education Association helped to make this dream a reality! |
