Welcome to my class. I look forward to teaching your child this year. I hope they find writing as enjoyable and exciting as I do.
Advanced English 8th Grade
Currently, we are studying persuasive writing/speaking.  Students are learning persuasive vocabulary and will apply it by writing and presenting a persuasive speech to their classmates. 

 

We will also study Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream"  speech and John F. Kennedy's innaugural address.

U.I.L. Editorial Writing
This is a writing contest for 7th and 8th grade students. Students are given a prompt in which they have 45 minutes to write a response. In their response, they must take a specific stance and give supporting reasons for their stance.


U.I.L. Impromptu Speaking
Students participating in Impromptu Speaking will learn how to give a speech on an unknown topic with only three minutes to prepare. This event is for 7th and 8th grade students.
